Dr. James Mitchell
Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon
Dr. James Mitchell is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing exclusively in hip and knee joint replacement. He was born and raised in Oklahoma City and completed college and medical school in Edmond and Oklahoma City. His orthopedic surgery training took place in Kansas, followed by a one-year fellowship in hip and knee replacement at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.
Raised in a medical family, Dr. Mitchell was influenced early by his mother, a registered nurse and nursing supervisor at what is now Integris Southwest Medical Center, and his father, a pharmacist who owned Ridgecrest Pharmacy in Oklahoma City. Exposure to the healthcare field from a young age, including observing surgeries, inspired a career dedicated to helping patients regain mobility and reduce pain.
Dr. Mitchell’s practice philosophy emphasizes delivering the highest quality outcomes with exceptional patient care. The focus is on making patients feel comfortable and confident while ensuring timely communication and support. Short-term recovery goals center on helping patients return to independence quickly after surgery, while long-term goals prioritize durable results that provide lasting satisfaction for years and decades to come.

Ryan Ballard, PA-C
I was born and raised in a small town in Oklahoma, where I learned early the importance of hard work and community. I attended the University of Oklahoma, earning a bachelor’s degree in Health and Exercise Science, followed by a master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
For the past 14 years, I’ve worked exclusively with joint replacement patients, gaining valuable experience and a deep appreciation for helping people regain mobility and confidence. I take pride in guiding patients through their treatment options so they feel informed, supported, and empowered in their healthcare decisions.
I met and married the love of my life while in college, and together we’re raising two wonderful children. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family—trying new restaurants with my wife, playing tennis with my son, and going on coffee-fueled adventures with my daughter.
